The Mass Effect 2 assignment 'Arrival' is deeply lodged in many players' minds. It's a long mission in which Shepard must fight without their squad for backup and which ends in a depressing conclusion about the Reapers. Shepard receives a call from Admiral Hackett, who asks them to do a solo search-and-rescue operation in order to save someone who is deep undercover.
That person is Dr. Amanda Kenson, a scientist from Arcturus who claims to have found proof of the Reaper invasion to come. This information is critical since the official Alliance stance on the issue is that the Reapers are only a myth.
We like to keep our guides fresh and up to date, so we've refreshed this one for any new players looking for the answer to the question this quest forces you to confront. Once you save Dr. Kenson, she tells Shepard all about the research she was doing undercover. Apparently, she and her team found a Mass Relay that they believe allows the Reapers to attack so efficiently over huge distances — and intended to destroy it.
However, the Batarians weren't fond of someone threatening their relay. If she showed signs of indoconation in the first place than we would never have been caught. I'm fairly sure Harbinger took control of her, which was why the "change" was so sudden. And that my friend is a good plot twist. Not really. A good plot twist generally is one that is built to over a period of time, something this DLC didn't really provide. I mean, I was expecting her to be indoctrinated.
It seemed pretty clear she was going to be, but then when the actual turn happened I was just kind of left thinking, "Okay, that's it? User Info: Shadow Yeah, it was a trap, but not a very well done one on Bioware's part. She was indoctrinated and then posessed by Harbinger, but the only way it sort of makes sense is if it really happened all of a sudden.
Apparently her guards were waiting to trap Shepard the second he walked in the door, but they didn't go after him until she explained exactly how to destroy the relay and stop the Reapers. Classic movie villain screw up. Gamertag: RedDart User Info: Babycakes When I played it I thought that she'd been gradually indoctrinated over time, but only became fully indoctrinated right when she and Shepard stood next to Rho.
Kind of like Rho gave her one last blast of indoctrination juice, which finally sent her over the edge. I accept that this is probably wrong - however, in a way i prefer this theory as it explains why she told Shepard how to destroy the Alpha Relay if she was indoctrinated all along, why not make up some BS so he can't User Info: rfahey I agree that it makes the most sense if she is only indoctrinated during the events of the mission itself.
Even then it doesn't make a ton of sense - during the two days that Shepard is unconscious, why not disassemble the rocket thrusters, delete the suicide program, etc. More topics from this board How exactly do I keep both Jacks and Mirandas loyalty? Build 5 Answers Aria's cache of goodies?
He rambles on about cosmic winds and the arrival for a few minutes, and then disappears. The Normandy arrives, Shepard jumps on board, the asteroid crashes into the mass relay, the mass relay blows up and over Hackett tells Shepard that he'll have to go to Earth, to defend his actions in front of a council or something like that.
This is where ME3 starts. That was probably a really crappy and confusing explanation I'm really tired. You should really buy the DLC. It's quite good. Shep verifies artifact and impending invasion though Alfa relay. Must be destroyed but in process would kill neighboring Batarian planet.
Becomes apparent that All of the Staff including Doctor Kensington have been indoctrinated. Object can't remember artifact name object Rho Roh something Orders staff to take Shep alive, battle ensues that lasts a life time, but pretty sweet if you can survive.
Object Knocks Shep out. Shep awakes to only an hour to Invasion. Battles her way through finally killing Kensington. Sets the gears in motion to blow Relay. On her way out in counters holo of Reaper. I know this is super simplistic. If you have the chance play it. I personnaly loved it. And from what I have seen with the begining of ME3 its a good thing to play it.
Wow, my explanation of the DLC sucked ass compared to some of you people's. Oh well At least the OP had his question answered :P. Log In Sign Up. Keep me logged in on this device Forgot your username or password? Don't have an account?
