I'm expecting to pull with the trans on, so I'll probably have to get it towards the back to balance it. Those who can, do.
Those who can't, criticize it on the internet. One on the intake front right and rear left. There should be holes on the front and rear of the heads you can attach to. Also, a load leveler will make things much easier. I have this one and it's real smooth. Load levelers are OK but don't get the cheap one; not worth a dime - they bind up as you try to use them. I've had better luck judging the balance needed and using strong bolts in the chain to position it on the hoist hook where I want it; if it needs a little adjustment it hasn't been much trouble to set it back down and move the bolts.
I usually have a couple motor mount bolts sitting around for this job. In this pic you can see the chain placement; this was used to pull engine and transmission as a unit.

I have the same question with my inline I have scene the plate that attaches to the intake for a V8 but I am at a lose for where to hook things up on my Anybody else have a good and safe way of doing it?
I agree, I don't have this "Intake Bracket", which does not look safe also. I'm wanting to lift the and R all at once, safely. Any advice on lifting with a chain will be greatly appreciated. They bolt to the head in the front and rear. Attached Images. Find More Posts by Sinister. A leveler works great!! Last edited by gchemist; at AM. You don't really need any fancy brackets at all. They do make things easier though. Just 2 bolts, a couple washers, and a chain will work.
It's as simple as that. This works very well on an I6 because it's so well balanced this way. The intake plate works easier on a V8 than this method though.
