Let me give an example. The poor sod attacking Wynne will be thrown half way through the screen and that alerts all of us. Leliana's talents will draw the attacker against her, while Wynne will keep attacking with her staff. When Leliana goes to Stealth, threat she has created is cleared. The original attacker will either go after our warriors, or back to Wynne - ending up having the same treatment. Ladies will play ball with him and discuss about good wines while at it.
Another examples. Alistair is set to Taunt enemies at start of the battle. He is also set to use War Cry, when ever surrounded by at least two enemies. Anyone running after Wynne is unlikely, thought that happens sometimes.
Alistair does not run after enemies. His talents like Shield Bash and Pummel are set to be used against the nearest enemy. Taunt keeps enemies around him to get bashed and War Cry reduces their ability to fight. My assassin character then runs around them with daggers, going in stealth, when ever my damage has caused enough thread. I did not fully get the part of possessed templar.
If your character is a warrior, then their attacks hardly matter. If they are rogues, then they can use stealth to clear the threat. In such cases I usually pull back, set an ambush - maybe even throw few traps around the floor - and then punch one of the enemies with a surprise arrow attack to lead them down the hall, where my team can control the battle. Mind Blast is very useful to mages. It clears the threat and allows warrior to use Taunt against enemies.
Just few ideas and examples why I am enjoying tactics. Planning and testing them was fun. I will have to pick another team, when I next time play the game. Otherwise I would just end up repeating tactics that I already tried, instead of having fun planning new ones. Last edited by Ilja ; 8 Sep, pm.
Originally posted by Ilja :. Morrigan is similar with Leliana in a way that they both generate a lot of threat with their attacks.
Mind Blast is among first spells that Morrigan should get. She is not smart enough to run away after it though, so hit the spell and run to another directly. Mind Blast clears the whole threat from attacking enemies, so sending Morrigan to run across the area after that is a good idea.
